Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. She traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss matters like the Iran Contra scandal.
